Studio M is the Québec studio building BULB, an iPhone camera that helps with composition. This blog is a place to explain photographic ideas you can try with the camera you already have.

Look at the photograph

Our examples come from the studio’s own photographs of Iceland and Québec. They were taken with a dedicated camera, not BULB. We use them to talk about placement, lines, space and the edges of a frame. Crops and overlays are illustrations.

One useful idea at a time

A guide should leave you with something to do: move a little, change the edge of the frame, compare two photographs. A composition rule is a starting point, and its exceptions are part of the lesson.

Clear about the process

The initial guides were prepared with AI assistance and say so on the article page. We do not invent personal shoots, test results or expert credentials. When a guide describes an iPhone setting, it links to Apple’s documentation. The byline names the publishing studio.

Our app has a place here

This is BULB’s blog, so some guides explain how the app’s tools relate to the exercise. You can follow the techniques with another camera. The guides are available in English and French, with a language link at the top of each page.
